TROOPS OCCUPY BLUE HARBOR

BLUE HARBOR (AP)—A National Guard unit set up camp on the outskirts of this small coastal town last night as part of a government effort to contain a spreading rabies epidemic.

The unit, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Michael Tower and comprised of nearly five hundred men, took over the area known as Harper’s fields late yesterday afternoon. Harper’s fields is a stretch of forty-three acres which spans the northern border of the island. Large khaki tents can be seen on both sides of Route 6, Island Road, the only access into or out of Blue Harbor.
